The Mindset

One day, you go to a class that is important to you and that you like a lot. The professor returns the midterm papers to the course, and you find out you got a C-, which makes you very disappointed.

That evening on the way home, you find you’ve gotten a parking ticket.

Frustrated, you call your best friend to share your experience but are brushed off.

What would you think?

What would you feel?

What would you do?

A Fixed Mindset would say:

“I’m a total failure.”

“I’m so stupid.”

“I’m a total reject.”

“Nothing works out with me.”

They would feel depressed, withdrawn and unmotivated, thus creating a “Belief” as a direct measure of their competence and self-worth.

A Growth mindset would say:

“I need to try harder in class.”

“Be more careful when parking my car.”

“I wonder if my friend is having a bad day.”

Conversely, feeling inspired, motivated, excited and challenged.

Reading the above, what do you think is your more dominant Mindset?

What would you have thought and felt in such a situation?

If you think you have a Fixed mindset, is it serving you?

In which way?

What would it take for you to acquire a Growth Mindset, and in what ways would that serve you?

Our Mindset is not fixed in stone.

We are in control of the choices we make and what we choose to believe, think, feel and achieve

So grab the wheel right now, take control of your mind, thoughts and emotions and make them work for you and not vice versa.
